Synopses:

It’s the age-old saying. You wait all day for a bus, and then three come along at once. But proposals? That’s just ridiculous. And yet, on New Year’s Eve, as the countdown finishes and the whole pub erupts in celebrations, Cerys finds herself staring at her ex-fiancé, Ricky. Who just so happens to be kneeling on the floor, ring in hand, asking her to marry him. Again.

And if that weren’t enough, hot barman Angelo, and longtime friend Huw also decide to pop the question. At the exact same time.

Three men, two real contenders, but just one choice. What on earth will she do?

*Trigger warning – gambling addiction*

Overall opinion of the book:

This was a quick, lighthearted and humorous read that I enjoyed. It was lovely to read a book set in Cardiff that mentions many places I’m familiar with, having lived there for four years. I particularly enjoyed all of the Welsh phrases used and of course the use of a Welsh names. It’s not often you find a main character whose name is Cerys! The funniest coincidence in the story was that two of the characters who were a couple have the same names as my mother and step father, Cerys and Huw!

Although Three Men and a Maybe was only a short read, Lovell includes a lot of insight into Cerys’s character and personality. It’s clear to see why she chose the decision she made at the end. The novella covers the topics of relationships, friendships, break ups and addiction to gambling.

The spelling punctuation and grammar was flawless and I would definitely read more of Lovell’s work in the future.

Final thoughts:

I would certainly recommend this book. It’s a great, quick read that’s perfect for Christmas and the new year. Given that it’s free to download on iBooks and Amazon too, you should definitely give it a go, what a bargain!

It was a humorous read and Lovett’s writing style is fantastic. Given that the Novella is under 60 pages long, it covers so much ground and depth into the character’s thoughts and feelings. If you enjoy reading or watching films similar to Bridget Jones’s Diary then I’m sure you’ll love this novella.
