Hi all,
Hope you’re doing well!
Here’s my latest Top 5 Wednesday post, I hope you enjoy it.
I also want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone that has been following my blog since I restarted it, and for all the love and support I’ve been shown. I really appreciate it, you’re all so lovely! I can’t believe that I have been lucky enough to reach 200 followers on WordPress, I never thought that this would happen! 🙂
Top 5 Wednesday (T5W) was created by the YouTubers Lainey – https://www.youtube.com/user/gingerreadslainey/videos and Samantha – https://www.youtube.com/user/thoughtsontomes in 2013. I know I’m late to the party, but it’s better late than never eh? It’s a tag used by both YouTubers and Bloggers.
A new topic is chosen weekly and every Wednesday you upload a list of 5 books that are related to the chosen topic.
If you would like to get involved and join in, here is a link to the Goodreads group where each topic is published: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/118368-top-5-wednesday.
THE T5W TOPIC THIS WEEK IS BOOKS FROM BEFORE I JOINED WORDPRESS:
Okay so I feel like I always mention Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings series of books, so I’m not going to include them in this week’s T5W list to change my answers up a little bit.
1. Lord Loss – Darren Shan
This will always remain a firm favourite of mine. The over caught my eye when I was at the airport years ago. One of my traditions is to buy a new book every time I fly, and this was one of my choices as a child, and I’m so glad it was! It’s absolutely brilliant, and I’d definitely recommend it!
2. Dracula – Bram Stoker
I’ve read this multiple times and I think it’s absolutely brilliant and is a classic that everyone should try to read!
3. The Diary of Ann Frank
I read this for the first time when I was around 11 years old. I’ve read it multiple times since, and I think it’s such an important read. I’ve always been interested in World War Two and would love to visit her annex in Amsterdam one day. I nearly did with university, but had to drop out of the trip, which was a real shame. I’d definitely recommend that everyone read this as it’s a reminder of how the war affected so many innocent people .
4. The Twilight Series – Stephenie Meyer
I know not everyone will agree with me here, but I absolutely loved the books as a teenager. Yes, there were aspects that bothered me, but overall I think they were brilliant.
5. Dead Gorgeous – Malorie Blackman
I picked this book up years ago in one of the many bookshops in Hay-On-Wye, and by luck it was signed too! I remember really enjoying it as it was quite haunting. It also touches upon important topics such as overcoming eating disorders too.

Oh Twilight. Although it wasn’t the series that got me into reading, it definitely paved the way and will always have a special place in my heart! Lovely post!

I love that you buy a book every time you fly! Also I really need to read Dracula and Diary of Anne Frank, I should add them to my TBR. I’d love to make it to her Annex someday, as well as the concentration camps, as I feel it really gives us insight into the past. Great list overall!

You definitely should, both are great books. I visited Auschwitz a few years ago, it was definitely an eye opening experience. Even though it’s an area of history I’ve studied in detail, it doesn’t fully prepare you for the visit.

I had a teacher tell me once that despite teaching about the Holocaust for 10 years, she still cried when she went to the Auschwitz museum. It really stuck with me to think how sad it must be to have that effect on people.

I think that’s awesome that you buy a book every time you fly! Love, love, love Dracula! It’s one of my favorites! Back in the day I was a huge Twihard! #TeamEdward For how much I love reading WWII books, I still haven’t read The Diary of Anne Frank, though I do have it sitting on my bookshelf. I too want to visit her Annex someday.
