Hi all,
I hope you’re doing okay today, anyone else glad the weather here in the U.K. is finally getting warmer?
Today’s tag post is a little different. For once, it’s not book related. As all of you know, I love books, but I also have a big passion for music too. When I saw my lovely blogging friend Britt post this tag on her blog back in November 2017, I knew I had to do it too at some point. You can check out here post here: http://alternativelyspeaking.ca/shuffle-music-tag/ – she has a great taste in music!
I hope you enjoy,
The Rules:
- Thank the person who nominated you for this tag and link to their blog.
- Shuffle your entire music library (no matter how old songs the songs are) and talk about the FIRST FIFTEEN songs that come up (anything like why they are there, if they signify something, any story, why you like them, etc.)
- Mention the songs as well as the artists.
- Tag 7 people or more to do this tag and please let them know!
Okay so I’m going to do a little disclaimer here before I start. My favourite genre of music is rock, but I listen to and enjoy most kinds of music. I am quite partial to an old cheesy pop song. So be prepared, my saved songs on Spotify is such a random mix as I recently added a lot of old school songs to my saved list!
Also, I know it says to choose the first 15 songs, but I’m going to do 20 instead. 🙂
1. Don’t Stop the Music – Rhianna
There’s no particular reason why this is in my saved songs. It’s okay, but not my favourite song or artist by a long stretch.
2. Everytime – Britney Spears
I used to absolutely loved this song as a child. I think it’s a really pretty song, even though the lyrics are quite sad.
3. All The Small Things – Blink 182
This will always be a brilliant song. You can’t go wrong with a bit of Blink!
4. Wisemen – James Blunt
Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m a big James Blunt fan. I’ve always enjoyed his music and he’s brilliant live. I actually went to see him on my own as no one else was willing to pay for a ticket – I feel no shame! If you’ve ever seen any of his tweets, you’ll know he’s hilarious too. I love his sense of humour and although this isn’t my favourite song of his, I still like it.
5. Sons of Apathy – Young Guns
This is actually the first time in years I’ve listened to this song. I still think it’s brilliant and I much prefer the first few songs Young Guns released.
Fun fact: When I was at university, I went to see Bullet For My Valentine live for the second time. Young Guns were supporting them, but due to traffic, me and my friends missed most of their set. Even though I’ve seen them live before I was still gutted. After the gig I went to my local rock club and surely enough Gustav, the lead singer of Young Guns was there! I stopped to have a chat with him and asked for a photo. Before we took a photo, he kissed me on the cheek! You can see from the photo how happy I was about this – haha!
6. Walk Away – Kelly Clarkson
This is another song I loved when I was a kid. My mam was a big fan of Kelly Clarkson and we always used to listen to this song in the car.
7. It’s Not Unusual – Tom Jones
Would I really be a true Welsh person if I didn’t have a Sir Tom Jones song in my playlist? I think not.
8. Drag Me Down – One Direction
Don’t judge me on this one. I don’t like One Direction, but this song was actually quite catchy.
9. All We Know – Paramore
I love a bit of old school Paramore.
10. My Friends Over You – New Found Glory
Another pop punk classic, can’t go wrong with this song!
11. In The Middle – Dodie Clark
This is my favourite song by Dodie. If you’re not familiar with her, she’s a Youtuber and singer. She’s really talented and I enjoy watching her videos occasionally. I was obsessed with this song when it was first released, it’s so catchy. I genuinely had it on repeat!
12. Before I Forget – Slipknot
I love Slipknot, so I’m glad one of their songs came up! They’re brilliant live too!
13. All Star – Smash Mouth
I mean this song is iconic, isn’t it? You can’t help but sing along. I first heard it when I watched Shrek and I’ve loved it ever since.
14. The Hills – The Weeknd
This song is up there with my all time favourite songs, I absolutely love it. The beat is so good. This is another song I listened to on repeat, especially when it first came out.
15. Shine a Light – McFly
Ah I absolutely love this song. I wasn’t a fan of the album Above The Noise very much, but this has the iconic McFly sound. I do love McFly.
16. Monster – The Automatic
This is another song I loved as a child.
17. Get Over It – McBusted
This isn’t my all time favourite McBusted song, but as a whole how can you not love McBusted?! I mean I can see why people don’t, but when you’re a huge fan of both McFly and Busted, this album was the best! I also loved the two shows I saw them do too, they were brilliant live. As they’re all friends the energy that bounced between them was epic and they put on a fantastic show.
I also LOVE the music video to this song, it’s so funny!
18. Safer To Hate Her – You Me at Six
This song is okay. I do love You Me at Six’s old albums, at one point they were my favourite band. I felt they peaked with Sinners Never Sleep however. I enjoyed that they were going for a heavier sound, but when their next album was released, I was so disappointed. In my opinion, they sold themselves out by going for a pop sound and I haven’t really listened to them since.
19. 21 Guns – Green Day (American Idiot – The Musical Edition)
If I’ve not said it before, American Idiot the Musical means so much to me. I can’t put it into words, but it moved me so much. It’s absolutely brilliant and made my love for Green Day grow. Although I love the original version of this song, I have to say, I actually prefer this version. It’s so beautiful and I like the mixture of male and female voices. The harmonising is perfect.
20. From Now On – The Greatest Showman
Can you tell I love musicals?! I have absolutely fallen in love with the soundtrack of The Greatest Showman, I think it’s absolutely brilliant. This song is so moving – I love it!
I chose to include this video, rather than the actual music video. If you’ve got 5 minutes, give it a watch. Hugh Jackman wasn’t supposed to be singing because of the 80 stitches in his nose from the skin cancer he had cut out. He sings anyway and it is the most moving video I have watched in a long time.

Your taste in heavy metal reminds me of my brother lol. He recently got into Bullet for My Valentine. This is going to be interesting because I recently got Spotify and have a lot of other, different stuff on iTunes…I think I will probably split it up and do 10 from Spotify and 10 from iTunes. It could be hard not to skip, though!

Haha yeah. Oh and I meant to ask if you’ve heard John Mulaney’s “Salt and Pepper Diner” bit since you know Tom Jones. It’s on YouTube and it’s hilarious
