Synopses:

Fragments of a Great Secret have been found in the oral traditions, in literature, in religions and philosophies throughout the centuries. For the first time, all the pieces of The Secret come together in an incredible revelation that will be life-transforming for all who experience it.

In this book, you’ll learn how to use The Secret in every aspect of your life — money, health, relationships, happiness, and in every interaction you have in the world. You’ll begin to understand the hidden, untapped power that’s within you, and this revelation can bring joy to every aspect of your life.

The Secret contains wisdom from modern-day teachers — men and women who have used it to achieve health, wealth, and happiness. By applying the knowledge of The Secret, they bring to light compelling stories of eradicating disease, acquiring massive wealth, overcoming obstacles, and achieving what many would regard as impossible.

The main concept of The Secret:

The concept behind this book is fantastic in my opinion and if utilised successfully, can be absolutely life changing. The Secret focuses on the Law of Attraction and how it can impact a person’s life. Now, I’m not going to explain this in detail in this review for two reasons:

1. I almost definitely can’t explain it as well as Rhonda Byrne does.

2. It’s an easy, yet big concept to get your head around that I don’t think I’ll be able to cover everything in one blog post.

What I will do is explain it briefly for those wondering what on Earth I’m going on about. The Law of Attraction simply means that like attracts like. Here’s a little analogy to explain this:

If you wake up in the wrong side of the bed and think, “this is going to be a rubbish day”, what happens? You have a bad day. Everything seems to go wrong, you miss the bus and you’re late for work, you get stuck in traffic, you forgot your lunch, you tip your coffee over your keyboard… the list goes on. You get the idea. It just seems like your day goes from worse to worse doesn’t it?

But, in contrast to that, what usually happens when you wake up feeling positive? Everything seems to go right doesn’t it? Your good mood continues, you arrive to work in plenty of time, you have a tasty lunch washed down with a warm coffee and you return home happy.

So, where does the Law of Attraction come into this you ask? Well, as I mentioned above, like attracts like. If you think negative thoughts you’re going to attract negative things, if you think positive thoughts you’ll attract positive things. The universe sends to you what you’re thinking about. Think of yourself like a magnet. Whatever you think, say and do, you’re going to attract more of the same thing, regardless if it’s good or bad.

That’s the basic theory of the Law of Attraction. Obviously there’s a lot more to it that’s explained in the book, but that’s the premise of it.

Overall opinion of the book:

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, even though I did go into it slightly sceptically. It’s definitely a book that is accessible to everyone and once you get into the language and content, it’s an interesting read. Even if you don’t fully believe in the Law of Attraction, it’s intriguing and insightful.

The Secret is split up into different sections and explains how you can utilise the Law of Attraction into every aspect your life. For example, it touches upon love, gratitude, money, happiness, health and relationships. It’s a non fiction book and is very informative. I will say that it is very information heavy, so although it’s only 199 pages long, it’s not necessarily a quick read. You could read it in a few hours if you wanted to, but if you want to take the book in fully, it would be better to read it slowly. This is definitely a book I’m going to reread a few times because there’s so much to take from it. It’s almost like learning a new skill rather than just reading a book.

Although The Secret is written by Rhonda Byrne, it collates many quotes and opinions from a wide range of people, surprisingly from religious people and books too. This was interesting and provides many different thoughts, opinions and experiences which help the reader to understand the concept better.

The only reason I didn’t give this book a 5 star rating was because of its writing style. At times, the way topics were phrased was a little confusing and some were written in an overly complicated way. In my opinion, some things could have been written far simpler. I feel the writing style may put off some people at first, but try not to let it because once you get into it, it’s a fantastic book. It’ written in US English so some of the spelling and words used were slightly different to UK English, but the overall spelling, punctuation and grammar was flawless.

Final thoughts:

I would certainly recommend this book to people from all walks of life. It’s an interesting and thought provoking read. I think everyone can take at least one positive thing from it to incorporate into their life.

If you’re interested in the Law of Attraction, I would recommend this book. It’s very helpful. Even if you think the concept is a load if nonsense, I’d still recommend giving it a go. You’ll probably be surprised by how helpful and practical it is.

If you enjoy books centred around positivity, then this is definitely the book for you.

The author Rhonda Byrne, also has created a movie of The Secret. If you would like to check that out you can do so here: The Secret*. There’s also loads of information about the Law of Attraction that you can find online and there is also an app for The Secret, which includes useful information and daily teachings too. 😊

I’m also thinking about writing a post on how the Law of Attraction has impacted my life. When I was first introduced to the idea, I thought it was a load of nonsense, probably like you are now. But as I learned more about it, it actually impacted my life in a BIG way. If you’d like me to post this then let me know. 😊

Have you read The Secret? If so, what were your thoughts on it? Let me know in the comments below. 😊

10 points to your Hogwarts house if you’re still here and managed to keep up with how many times I said the words ‘The Secret’ and ‘Law of Attraction’ in this post. 😅😂
