Beat The Backlist | Final Update 2018

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re doing well!

Today’s post will be my final Beat the Backlist update of 2018. I’ll be honest here, I definitely didn’t reach my goal of 40 books and I’ve been awful at updating you all with how the challenge has been going. I said in my original post that I thought I was being far too ambitious with this goal, and I was. While I tried my best to read the books on my backlist, I received a lot of 2018 books to review and as a result the older books had to take a back seat.

Beat The Backlist is such a fantastic idea, but I was far too ambitious with my goal this year and as a result I don’t think I’ll be participating in 2019. If you’re looking to challenge yourself with reading books that have been sitting on your bookshelf for months I’d definitely recommend giving Beat the Backlist a go in 2019 though! If you go on Novel Knight’s website here: http://novelknight.com, I’m sure they will be posting the details of the 2019 challenge on there soon. 😊

Here is the original list of books I was planning on reading for this challenge and although I did read a few more books (not on this list) that were released before 2018, I’m only including the ones I already planned to read.

Altogether I managed to read a grand total of 3 books… doh! The reason there are four crossed off is because I tried to read Carnivore but due to the content included was unable to finish it.

1. Miss You – Kate Eberlen
2. My Not So Perfect Life – Sophie Kinsella
3. The Ex Factor – Eva Woods
4. A Dog’s Purpose – Bruce W. Cameron
5. The Circle – Dave Eggers
6. Everything, Everything – Nicola Yoon
7. The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas
8. Tinderella – Zoe Jones
9. Wide Sargasso Sea – Jean Rhys
10. If I was Your Girl – Meredith Russo
11. Who’s That Girl? – Mhairi McFarlane
12. Just Haven’t Met You Yet – Cate Woods
13. Some Kind of Wonderful – Giovanna Fletcher
14. One of Us Is Lying – Karen McManus
15. Wonder Woman: Warbringer – Leigh Bardugo
16. Girls Made of Snow and Glass – Melissa Bashardoust
17. Feel Me Fall – James Morris
18. They Both Die at the End – Adam Silvera
19. Small Great Things – Jodi Picoult
20. The Roanoke Girls – Amy Engel
21. How To Stop Time – Matt Haig
22. Throne of Glass – Sarah J. Maas
23. The Word is Murder – Anthony Horowitz
24. It Only Happens in the Movies – Holly Bourne
25. As Old As Time – Liz Braswell
26. The Hating Game – Sally Thorne
27. Meat – Joseph D’Lacey
28. Carnivore – Jonathan Lyon
29. 36 Questions That Changed My Mind About You – Vicki Grant
30. The Visitors – Catherine Burns
31. Genuine Fraud – E. Lockhart
32. Someone to Love – Melissa de la Cruz
33. If There’s No Tomorrow – Jennifer L. Armentrout
34. A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares – Krystal Sutherland
35. The Break – Marian Keyes
36. First Person – Richard Flannagan
37. The Crow Road – Iain Banks
38. It Had To Be You – Keris Stainton
39. The Innocent Wife – Amy Lloyd
40. Turtles All The Way Down – John Green

As I still own all of these books I won’t be giving up on them completely, all is not lost. I do hope to read them all in the near future. 😊

I did participate at the beginning of 2018, but the host kind of went awol and our group slowly went quiet, so I didn’t read many! Good luck for 2019!

I’m sad to hear that you have decided not to participate in 2019. There are two books on your list that I read last year. I’ve managed to cross off 14 out of 17 books that I set for the challenge at the beginning of the year.
