Book Hooked Box | January ‘Fairytales’ Unboxing

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all having a great week!

Here’s my slightly belated unboxing of January’s Book Hooked Box. It was such a brilliant box and I can’t wait to share its contents with you all!

I hope you enjoy,

If you’ve seen my previous post about the Book Hooked Box, then you’ll know how excited I was to receive mine in the post. Book Hooked Box was created by my lovely friend Sarah, and after months of hearing about all of her planning and time she put into the box I was overjoyed to see it all become a reality. Sarah has put so much love and thought into each box and it’s literally the best feeling to see your friends succeed!

Everything that was included in the box was of such great quality and it’s clear that a lot of thought went into every item included in the box. As the website explains, Book Hooked Box is for fans of YA and all things indulgent and the box definitely was this.

*disclaimer – I personally purchased a box. All opinions are my own and are honest. They are not influenced in any way.*

Here’s everything that was included in January’s Fairytales box:

I just want to say that I’m a sucker for things wrapped in tissue paper with cute stickers on them ,so this box was already onto a winner with me!

As you can see from the photo above, the box was absolutely jam packed with goodies!

After removing the spoiler card and themed artwork (which I will show at the end), naturally the first thing I grabbed out of the box was the luxury chocolates. Now I had the privilege to see photos of these chocolates before they were put into the box and I had been sooo excited to try them. As you can see from the photo below, they look amazing and I can confirm that they were insanely delicious too. I’m a fully fledged chocoholic and I can genuinely say that I haven’t tasted chocolates as nice as these for years, especially the salted caramel one (my mouth is watering just thinking about it).

Book Hooked Box weren’t joking when they said luxury chocolates, I’m already eagerly waiting to try the ones in February’s box.

The next thing I opened was the chocolate stirrer, which is actually made by a small Welsh company – yay! I used it the following day and it was so yummy, I mean who doesn’t want a Belgium milk chocolate, hot chocolate! It mixed into the warm milk well and created delicious thick drinking chocolate.

I decided to open the exclusive candle next. I was really impressed by the smell of it. Usually I’m not a huge fan of grapefruit scents, but this wasn’t overpowering and it mixed well with the blood orange. I have a problem with hoarding candles rather than burning them straight away so I haven’t experienced how it burns yet. It’s currently sitting on my desk in my study with the lid off though and it smells so nice! Also, can we talk about how pretty the wax and packaging is please? It’s almost too lovely to burn!

The supplier Ash & Quill Candles were kind enough to provide a discount code off their products to all of the Book Hooked Box subscribers too, which was a lovely unexpected addition. I won’t be showing the code in this post as it was exclusively for people who purchased the box. I’ll definitely be having a browse on their website to see what other amazing candles they do. 😊

As a thank you for purchasing January’s box, Sarah was kind enough to include a limited edition print and bookmark in every box purchased. Originally these were for those who preordered the box, so that was a great addition to the box. The print is inspired by fairytale characters and the bookmark has an Alice in Wonderland quote on it. They’re both lovely. I love that the print is black and white too as it’s not often you see prints like this!

The print was created by Jenny (@tecsiederp), who’s a design student – isn’t it great! I can’t wait to put it up in my study.

Now onto the book. I’m so excited to read this as it’s one that wasn’t on my radar until I received this box. Sarah kept the book a secret and I’m so glad about that because it was a great surprise when I opened it!

Stain is a YA retelling of the fairytale The Princess and the Pea. I used to reread and reread the Ladybird classic of this book as a child so I can’t wait to read this retelling in the coming months! The cover is so pretty and I love how the packaging, candle and everything included in this box has the same colour theme as the book, it ties everything together nicely – I’m a sucker for small touches like this!

If it wasn’t jam packed enough, the box also included a signed bookplate and author letter. This was such a lovely personal touch.

Finally, here is a photo of the exclusive artwork on the front of the spoiler card. It was created by R.N Merle (@rnmerlewords) and I absolutely love it. The detailing is incredible.

Here’s the spoiler cards if you’re interested in finding out more about the products that were included in the box. 😊

And that’s it for January’s box! I was so happy with it’s contents and I think it was excellent value for money, all of this for £25 including free U.K. shipping? Yes please! I’ve got a subscription to the box and cannot wait for February and March’s boxes already!

What I love most about this box is that I know I’ll use every item that was included. Often I find that subscription boxes are too expensive and contain many items I wouldn’t know what to do with, but with Book Hooked Box this isn’t the case. Every box contains a brand new YA hardback book, a box of chocolates, a hot drink, a candle or bath/body products and exclusive themed artwork – all of which I’d use.

The indulgent nature of this box draws me in as there’s nothing I enjoy more than eating chocolate and drinking a warm drink while cosying up on the settee to read a book. I also love baths and candles so this really is the perfect box for me.

If you would like to purchase a subscription to Book Hooked Box or want to buy a one off box you can do so here:

There are a limited amount of February’s boxes left that you can still purchase if you’re interested. February’s theme is ‘Surviving Disaster’ and will contain some amazing bath products and of course those amazing chocolates, I can’t wait!

What a lovely box! Stain is on my tbr and a great pick. All the extras look so nice too and good quality. Ash and Quill candles are fab! I have the Becky Chamber’s one on my desk. If I could have dairy I would definitely be ordering a box. I have pointed a few other people in the direction of the box though. Great unboxing!

This looks like such a good subscription box! I’ve tried so many in the past and end up just not using the trinkets that come in the box but one full of food I can get behind!
