June Wrap Up | 2019

Hi everyone,

Hope you’re doing well!

Today’s post is my June wrap up. Can’t believe we’re over halfway through 2019, it’s crazy!

I read 7 books this month and actually surpassed how many books I read in 2018. I read 33 books last year when my goal was 40. I was disappointed, but many factors led to me not reading as much as hoped last year. I went in with a fresh mind in 2019 and decided to put less pressure on reading books I think I should and stopped requesting too many arcs. It’s definitely worked and I’ve began to love reading again, rather than feeling like I have to read!

I hope you enjoy,

30. The Cruel Prince – Holly Black

Rating: ★★★

Thoughts: I absolutely adored this book and was blown away by how brilliant it was. It’s the first fae book I’ve read and was not disappointed. I can’t wait to read The Wicked King!

31. Am I Normal Yet? – Holly Bourne

Rating: ★★★

Thoughts: I listened to the audiobook and was really not a fan of the narrator, her voice was far too childlike and I thought it was annoying in all honesty. This book itself is okay, it shows how tough having OCD can be and the affects it has on teenagers. I wasn’t wholly fussed on the characters though and probably won’t be continuing on with this series.

32. The Quiet at the End of the World – Lauren James*

Rating: ★★★

Thoughts: I was blown away by this book, it was fantastic. The writing was great and it was such an interesting story. I’m not an avid as Sci-Fi reader, so it goes to show how great it was seeing as I’ve given it five stars!

33. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban – J. K. Rowling

Rating: ★★★

Thoughts: Of course this was a 5 star read. What I will say though is that I definitely enjoyed reading it more as a child compared to rereading it this time around. Don’t get me wrong, I still loved it!

34. Don’t Tell Teacher – Suzy K. Quinn*

Rating: ★★★

Thoughts: This was in interesting and disturbing thriller with a lot of twists and turns I didn’t see coming!

35. The Flat Share – Beth O’Leary

Rating: ★★★

Thoughts: This book certainly lived up to the hype and I absolutely loved it! It was adorable and it’s such a unique idea for a Chick-Lit! I’d definitely recommend giving it a read.

36. Stalking Jack the Ripper – Kerri Maniscalco

Rating: ★★★

Thoughts: While it didn’t blow me away, I did enjoy this book and the plot. It’s dark, compelling and gory – three things I love in a book! I’m excited to see what the rest of the series is like!

*All of the books followed by an asterisk are ones I have been #gifted by either the publisher or author. All opinions are my own and are not influenced by receiving a free copy in any way.

I’m happy with the amount of books I’ve read this month, it really was a month of mixed star ratings. Some books were okay, others I absolutely adored!

The Flatshare completely blew my expectations out of the water! It may be my favorite romance book of the year ❤

And The Quiet at the End of the World is one I've been seeing a lot of hype for! I'm hoping to get to it soon 😀
