O.W.L’s Update // Week One // Magical Readathon 2020

Trader of Magical Tomes (4)

Hi everyone,

How are we all doing?

Hope you’re all staying safe in the current climate. What have you been up to during isolation? Have you found that you’ve been reading more or less? So many people I’ve spoken to have been reading less, but I actually seem to have come out of my long reading slump – finally! Let’s hope it lasts!

Today’s post is a quick one, I’m just checking in to update you all on how I’m doing with the Magical Readathon 2020. If you’ve not seen my previous post where I talk all about the O.W.L’s, my TBR and what the readathon consists of, then pop over and check out that post first: https://ashleighbekkah.wordpress.com/2020/04/01/o-w-l-s-tbr-magical-readathon-2020/. This post will make a lot more sense then. 🙂

Also, don’t forget to check out G’s YouTube channel, she created this Readathon and you can find out all of the details about it here:

Hope you enjoy this post,

O.W.L’s Readathon 2020 Week 1 update:

O.W.L’s completed:

Potions: Shrinking solution – books under 150 pages
Koyasan – Darren Shan

Page count: 107
Star rating: ★★★★☆

I really enjoyed Koyasan, it took me a few pages to get into but thought it was a great story overall. I’ve been wanting to read it for a while now as Darren Shan was one of my favourite childhood authors, but never got around to picking it up. I’m glad I did though, I love his writing style and it’s got that creepy and intriguing vibe that all of his books have! This book was released for World Book Day in 2006 and I’d definitely give it a read if you haven’t yet, I loved the ending so much!

Here’s the list of the books I’m planning on reading for this readathon:

Essential reads:
1. I AM, I AM, I AM – Maggie O’Farrell (290 pages)
2. The Warehouse – Rob Hart (356 pages)
3. Sabrina: Season of the Witch – Sarah Rees Brennan (284 pages)
4.
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde – Robert Louis Stevenson (111 pages)

Optional reads:
5. To Kill a Kingdom – Alexandra Christo (358 pages)
6.Koyasan – Darren Shan (107 pages)

Total essential pages to read: 1041
Total optional pages to read: 465
Total pages overall to read: 1506

Total essential pages read in week 1: 0
Total optional pages to read: 107
Total pages overall to read: 107
Total pages left to read: 1399

My chosen career is Trader of Magical Tomes. Potions isn’t a subject needed for this career path, but I’m reading it as part of my animagus training.

I’m hoping to read a lot more in week two! I got a bit distracted with my new Kindle Paperwhite this week and have been reading non readathon books – oops!

Are you taking part? How many books have you read so far? Let’s chat in the comments!
