I hope you’re doing well!
Today’s post is an exciting one, it’s my TBR for The Reading Rush 2020! I’ve wanted to participate in this Readathon for years but have always ended up being too busy to do so. Usually the Readathon coincides with YALC and as the event is jam packed and in London I end up buying more books than I read in that weekend! 😂
I’m so gutted that YALC has been postponed until next July but I know it will be so much fun when it comes around again next year!
As I’m at home this year I thought it would be the perfect time to get involved in The Reading Rush! Although I’m working 6/7 of the days so I’m not sure how many books I’ll actually get around to reading, but I’m going to give it a go anyway!
If you’ve not heard of The Reading Rush check out the website where it explains this readathon in detail here.
With the prompts you can use one book to cover more than one prompt, so I’m going to be realistic and double up on as many as possible so my TBR pile isn’t too big!
Are you taking part in The Reading Rush? What book are you most excited to read? Let me know in the comments below!
Here are the 7 prompts for this years challenge!
1. Read a book with a cover that matches the colour of your birth stone.
2. Read a book that starts with the word “The”.
3. Read a book that inspired a movie you’ve already seen.
4. Read the first book you touch.
5. Read a book completely outside of your house.
6. Read a book in a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of.
7. Read a book that takes place on a different continent than where you live.
So altogether I’m going to attempt to read 2 books, one contemporary and one fantasy.
The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas fits into so many of these categories! I’ve wanted to read it for years but never got around to it. I saw the film with Linda when it was first released and thought it was so moving and important. I can’t wait to finally read it. I could have included THUG in 6/7 of the challenges and read it outside of my house but I’ve decided to use The Wicked King for this prompt instead.
I loved The Cruel Prince – Holly Black when I listened to it on audiobook so I’m excited to get around to reading the sequel. Fantasy and Sci-fi are the genres I tend to read the least and it usually takes a lot of encouragement to start reading them. Once I do read them though I tend to enjoy them. I have also download the audiobook to listen to it walking to and from work and on my lunch breaks so I have more of a chance at completing the challenge.
So here’s my TBR:
It’s not the biggest of TBR’s but it’s a realistic one given that this next week is going to be a busy one!
Have you read any of these books? What were your thoughts of them? Are you taking part in The Reading Rush 2020? Let me know in the comments below! 🙂
