  5. Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
  6. Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them & provide the link to the post you created.

Give a brief story of how your blog started:

I originally started my blog around 3/4 years ago during my first year of university. It was always something that I wanted to do, but I didn’t really know what I could blog about.

I decided to blog about anything and everything that took my fancy, but it didn’t really work out. I had no real focus, and there were random posts floating around that weren’t linked to each other and were all a bit random. I struggled to find time to fit in blogging around my university degree and other hobbies. Blogging ended up being my last thought and I would only ever upload on the rare occasion.

I thought I’d jump straight back into blogging after university, but I just couldn’t think of anything worthwhile to say, and I had a full-time job with antisocial hours. Another whole year passed after graduation and I began writing freelance book reviews for a local editing company in my spare time. This made me re-evaluate how I spend my spare time as I fell out of love with reading, something that used to be one of my favourite past times.

Although I did a lot of reading for my English Literature and History degree, and enjoyed many of the books I read, they weren’t books of my choice. Reading began to feel like a chore more than a hobby. I went from reading 30-40 books of choice in a year to around 1 or 2.

It was only after I began to write book reviews that I realised it was something I enjoyed doing and could potentially blog about. That’s when I decided to log back into my blog and completely change it. I decided to focus solely on book reviews and all things book related and I’ve got to say, I’m so glad I did. My goal is to become a book editor in the future, and I feel that this blog is a step in the right direction.

Not only do I now enjoy blogging, but I’m lucky enough to have a group of fellow book bloggers that are friendly, kind and give some great advice.

Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers:

1. BE YOURSELF – I think this is super important. Put your own stamp and style on your blog and make your personality and voice show through in what you write. Sure, take inspiration from other bloggers, but be yourself and do what you want to do. Don’t feel like you have to blog about a specific book you’re not interested in because other people are, write about the books you enjoy to read.

2. NETWORK WITH OTHER SIMILAR BLOGGERS – I think this is crucial. Definitely try and reach out to bloggers that write about similar content to you. That way you will be able to build a friendship group where you can chat about different ideas and also give each other advice. This may not be for everyone, but it certainly helped me so much. I am lucky enough to be a part of an amazing book bloggers group chat on Twitter and it’s so encouraging. Everyone is so kind and supportive. It’s great because everyone keeps each other motivated and it’s good to know that there are people you can ask for advice and have a good old chit-chat with.

Thank you very much for reading this, and thank you again for nomination Danielle.

I’m a little late to the party and a lot of my blogger friends have already done this tag so I’m unable to tag fifteen people. I would like to tag the following lovely people however:
